Online Submission of Freedom of Information Act Requests

The U.S. Agency for International Development is pleased to announce the acceptance of Freedom of Information Act request online through our Public Access Link (PAL).  FOIA request submitted by e-mail, fax and regular mail are still accepted.  Please note that Privacy Act request are not accepted online.

To Submit a FOIA Request Online (Preferred)

Register to create an online profile or to log in to your existing profile click Sign In.

If you have already created an account, do not create another one.  Duplicate accounts will be deleted.  If you need to update information in your account, sign into the system and click on the "My Account" link on the side menu.

Complete the online request form and submit electronically.

Track the status of your request and download the released records.

Privacy Act Requests (Records About Yourself)

If you are requesting records about yourself under the Privacy Act, you must verify your identity.

To submit a Privacy Act request:

•   Complete the Privacy Act Request Form
•   Provide a copy of a valid government-issued photo ID (such as a driver's license or passport).
•   Include either:

•   A notarized statement, or
•   A signed declaration under penalty of perjury stating:
•   "I declare under penalty of perjury that I am the individual named above and that the information provided is true and correct."

You may submit your completed request online, by email, or by mail.

What to Include in Your Request

To help us process your request as efficiently as possible:

• Clearly describe the records you are seeking.
• Include relevant details such as names, offices, date ranges, and subject matter.
• Indicate your willingness to pay applicable fees or request a fee waiver.

Processing Time

Requests are processed on a first-in, first-out basis.  Processing times may vary depending on the complexity of the request and the volume of requests received.
